Advent - St. Joseph's Travelling Crib 

Advent, a very special time in the Church’s year when we prepare our hearts and homes for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. As a Catholic school, Advent invites us to pause, reflect, and focus on hope, peace, joy, and love. It is a time for our whole school community, and our families at home, to come together in prayer and anticipation as we journey towards the celebration of Christ’s birth.

As part of our Advent traditions in school, the children will have the opportunity to bring home a travelling crib for one night, should they wish to take part. This simple activity encourages families to set up a small Nativity scene together, read the Nativity story, and share a short prayer. We hope this provides a peaceful moment of togetherness during this busy season.

Throughout Advent, families are also welcome to make use of the Hallow App, which is offering free access during Advent. It includes child-friendly reflections, stories, and prayers that can support your family’s spiritual journey. In addition, the CAFOD Advent Calendar is available online and provides daily reflections and activities that help children understand the true meaning of Advent and the importance of helping others.
